Paranoid self-assurance reflecting the identity crisis of today. Data projectionists will get scared: Julian Palacz is approaching new forms of portrait and self-portrait in an unconventional medial context by different accesses of material and presentation forms. It is the intention of a portrait, apart from conveying mimic similarities, to express a person’s character. Usually the face gets pictured as identity. But how could a portrait look like which exclusively consists of collected, electronically tangible data of a person? Due to new forms of recording as well as linking human features, facial traits, clothing and surroundings no longer play the main role. By collecting digital information and analysing habits, practises and activities in the internet an even more intimate and accurate portrayal may be conceived. Temporary „illumination“ creates a particular picture of the person portrayed.
